Kuala Lumpur, 13 March: In conjunction with Perodua’s 20th anniversary this year, the compact carmaker today launched its most value-for-money variants for its consumers so far.
The 3 new variants (Viva S, Myvi 1.3 SE and Alza S) – dubbed the “S-Series” – enhance the value, usability and styling of all 3 of the compact carmaker’s current model line-up. The “S” in “S-Series” stands for “Special”.
“The “S-Series” variants introduced today offers overall total value of ownership,” Perodua Chairman Tan Sri Asmat Kamaludin said during the launch event here today.
The “S-Series” was launched by the Deputy Prime Minister YAB Tan Sri Dato’ Hj Muhyiddin Hj Mohd Yassin and was witnessed by Minister of International Trade and Industry YB Dato’ Sri Mustapa Mohamed as well as Daihatsu Motor Company’s President, Mr Koichi Ina.
The Deputy Prime Minister also placed the first foundation stone of Perodua’s new state-of-the-art factory worth RM790 million, which the compact carmaker announced in December 2012. The plant is expected to be operational by mid-2014.
The Viva S 1.0L is priced at RM34,774.30 (AT, solid) comes with power steering, seat height adjuster, seat under tray, seat back pocket, vanity mirror and an MP3 & WMA (Windows Media Audio) player and is currently the most affordable automatic car in the country.
While the Myvi 1.3 SE is priced at RM44,924.30 (MT, solid) and RM47,924.30 (AT, solid). Among features available are the special edition bumper, side skirting and rear spoiler.
The Alza S 1.5L is priced at RM53,517.00 (MT, solid) and RM56,517.00 (AT, solid). These variants comes standard with rear spoilers, fog lamps and silver paint interior finish as well as chrome inner door handles.
All “S-Series” variants’ additional features are included at no additional cost to the customer.
The series come in all current Perodua vehicle colours as well as its signature “Ozzy Orange”. All “S-Series” variants will be available at Perodua sales showrooms from 14 March onwards.
In addition to the S-Series, Perodua also announced that all its vehicles registered from 15 March onwards will enjoy a 3-year free service at any of its service outlets throughout the country.
“We have worked diligently to further improve our efficiency and transfer whatever savings we earn to our customers; in line with the government’s call to give greater value in our products and services,” Perodua Managing Director, Datuk Aminar Rashid Salleh said in a media briefing session before the launch.
“Due to this we are able to give our customers a value average of RM4,500 per unit for these variants,” Aminar said.
He said that the launch of the new variants will contribute towards achieving Perodua’s 194,000 sales target this year.
On a separate matter, Perodua also announced that it will donate RM60,000 to honour those who have sacrificed for the defence of the country during the Sabah crisis.
